Each category should define the critical quality priorities. These may include seam extension, raw-edge coverage, wash appearance, interior presentation, or alteration allowance.
Build an Approved Seam Library
An approved seam library can include photographs, diagrams, stitch types, seam allowances, thread requirements, machine classes, acceptable tolerances, and tested fabric ranges.
This reduces repeated development and prevents factories from interpreting general terms such as “clean finish” differently.
The library should remain adaptable. A seam approved for one cotton poplin should not automatically be used on a looser, lighter, or more heavily finished fabric simply because the fiber content appears similar.
